Efficient moment method for modeling nanoporous evaporation

چکیده
Evaporative nanoporous membranes have the potential to unlock next generation of high-power electronics by providing much needed compact and efficient cooling solutions. Here, we develop a novel modeling framework for this class flows and, in doing so, demonstrate that conventional fluid mechanics, based on Navier-Stokes-Fourier paradigm is inaccurate, because domain sizes are comparable mean free path gas (i.e. vapor flow rarefied). Instead, show recently developed higher-order moment methods provide both an accurate method computing these evaporative thus simulation-for-design capabilities at nanoscale.

Evaporation from Nanoporous Membranes
Cooling demands of advanced electronics are increasing rapidly, often exceeding capabilities of conventional thermal management techniques. Thin film evaporation has emerged as one of the most promising thermal management solutions. High heat transfer rates can be achieved in thin films of liquids due to a small conduction resistance through the film to the evaporating interface. In this thesis...
متن کاملAdiabatic burst evaporation from bicontinuous nanoporous membranes
Evaporation of volatile liquids from nanoporous media with bicontinuous morphology and pore diameters of a few 10 nm is an ubiquitous process. For example, such drying processes occur during syntheses of nanoporous materials by sol-gel chemistry or by spinodal decomposition in the presence of solvents as well as during solution impregnation of nanoporous hosts with functional guests. It is comm...

A higher order hybrid finite element – method of moments (FEM-MoM) technique for threedimensional analysis and design of radiating and scattering structures is presented. The technique uses generalized parametric hexahedral and quadrilateral elements of arbitrary geometrical orders in conjunction with curland divergence-conforming hierarchical polynomial vector basis functions of arbitrary appr...
متن کاملIntroduction to the Slide Modeling Method for the Efficient Solution of Heat Conduction Calculations
Determination of the maximum temperature and its location is the matter of the greatest importance in many technological and scientific engineering applications. In terms of numerical calculations of the heat conduction equation by using uniform mesh increments in space, large computational cost is sometimes countered. However, adaptive grid refinement method could be computationally efficient ...
